The Canyon View Jaguars will challenge the Paradise Valley Trojans at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a three-game winning streak alive.
Last Tuesday, Canyon View got the win against North Canyon by a conclusive 16-1. Considering the Jaguars have won six games by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Carter Radwanski looked comfortable as he tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits.
At the plate, Canyon View let Ethan Santoyo and Brock Berlan run wild. Santoyo scored a run while going 2-for-2, while Berlan went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one triple. The team also got some help courtesy of Rolando Valles, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.
Canyon View always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .688. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2024.
Meanwhile, Paradise Valley won against Evergreen on Tuesday with four runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Wednesday. Paradise Valley won by a run and slipped past Forge Christian 4-3.
Drew England looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
On the hitting side, Paradise Valley saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nick deChaud, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.
Paradise Valley pushed their record up to 6-5 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Canyon View, their victory bumped their record up to 8-2.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Canyon View has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Paradise Valley struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.9 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Everything went Canyon View's way against Paradise Valley in their previous meeting on Monday, as Canyon View made off with a 7-0 win. Will Canyon View repeat their success, or does Paradise Valley have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
