Basketball Recap: Leggett Skates Past Laneville with Ease

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against New Waverly, Leggett was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They blew past the Laneville Yellowjackets 58-10. The Pirates pushed the score to 45-8 by the end of the third, a deficit the Yellowjackets had no chance of recovering from.

Leading Leggett to victory were Bianca Perkins and Priscilla Henderson. Perkins shot 56% from the field on her way to 23 points and four steals, while Henderson almost dropped a double-double with 13 points and nine steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Perkins has scored at least a third of the Pirates' points. Another player making a difference was Minneah Williams, who posted eight points and four steals.

Leggett now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Laneville, they are on an 18-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.

Looking ahead, Leggett will square off against Corrigan-Camden at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Laneville, they will take on Campbell at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
