Softball Recap: Union Grove Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Win

Union Grove strolled into their game on Tuesday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They were the clear victors by an 8-2 margin over the Wilmot Panthers. The Broncos might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matchups by six runs or more this season.

Ciara Hage spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on two hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Ella Erickson and Emma Santarelli did most of the damage at the plate: Erickson scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Santarelli scored a run while going 2-for-4. Erickson also put up an RBI, which was her first of the season. River Jamison was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

They weren't the only one making solid contact: Union Grove kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wilmot only managed four hits.

Union Grove pushed their record up to 4-0 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average this season. As for Wilmot, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-5.

Looking ahead, Union Grove will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against Indian Trail at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Wilmot will be paying especially close attention to the Broncos' game: after the Broncos faces off against the Hawks, they'll take on Wilmot again at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
