Volleyball Recap: Lutheran Falls Despite Big Games from Ariana Hardy and Ainsley Bruening

If Lutheran was feeling good fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Heritage Christian Academy on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Knights fell just short of the Wellington-Napoleon Tigers by a score of 3-2 on Thursday. The Knights were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Tigers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

Lutheran took a 2-1 lead headed into the fourth set, but sadly they lost the next two. The final score came out to 22-25, 25-17, 22-25, 25-21, 16-14.

Lutheran's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Ainsley Bruening, who had 14 digs, and Ariana Hardy, who had ten digs. Annie Eitzmann also deserves some recognition as she served her first aces of the season.

Lutheran dropped their record down to 5-15-1 with the loss, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for Wellington-Napoleon, with the victory, they broke their three-match losing streak and moved their record to 9-14-4.

Lutheran does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Wellington-Napoleon, they will square off against Orrick at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
