Softball Recap: Putnam Takes a Loss

After flying high against Parish Hill on Tuesday, Putnam came back down to earth. The Clippers lost 22-12 to the Wheeler Lions on Wednesday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Clippers of the 13-6 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

Olivia Hetrick was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Brynn Dignam, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Putnam now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Wheeler, their record is now 5-1.

Looking ahead, Putnam will square off against Montville at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Clippers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wolves have averaged an impressive 8.4 runs per game this season. As for Wheeler, they will face off against Griswold at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
