Softball Game Preview: Springport Spartans vs. Jonesville Comets

Springport hasn't had much luck against Jonesville recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Spartans will face off against the Comets at 4:00 p.m. Springport's pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so Jonesville's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Springport's usually-dominant pitching crew will be looking to make up for Friday's struggle, when Eaton Rapids hitters got past them. The Spartans lost 11-1 to the Greyhounds on Friday. The game marked the Spartans' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Jonesville). They put the hurt on Addison with a sharp 15-3 victory on Wednesday. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Comets' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Jonesville's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-5. As for Springport, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-2.
