Football Game Preview: Plano East Panthers vs. McKinney Lions

The Plano East Panthers will take on the McKinney Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

It was a proper cat-fight when Plano East challenged Plano on Thursday. The Panthers fell just short of the Wildcats by a score of 17-15. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Panthers have suffered against the Wildcats since November 10, 2017.

Despite the defeat, Plano East got top-tier performance from Travis Agee, who rushed for 105 yards and two touchdowns on only 14 carries.

Plano East didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Jordan Stafford and MJ Haggan.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask McKinney). They enjoyed a cozy 29-15 victory over McKinney Boyd on Thursday. The Lions haven't had any issues with the Broncos recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

This is the second loss in a row for Plano East and nudges their season record down to 1-7. As for McKinney, their victory bumped their record up to 3-5.

Plano East and McKinney were almost perfectly matched up in their previous matchup back in November of 2024, but Plano East suffered an agonizing 24-23 loss. Can the Panthers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
