Volleyball Recap: Phoebus Comes Up Short

Phoebus suffered their biggest defeat since September 23rd on Thursday. They came up short against the Menchville Monarchs, falling 3-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Monarchs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 back in September.

While Phoebus was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into Menchville's winning margin in every set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-9, 25-14, 25-20.

Kamryn Eccleston went supernova For Menchville., getting 13 kills, 13 digs, and two aces. That's the most digs Eccleston has posted over her last five contests. Jordein Holder was another key player, getting 11 digs, six kills, three blocks, and three aces.

This is the second loss in a row for Phoebus and nudges their season record down to 13-6. As for Menchville, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season.

Phoebus didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-0 victory against Heritage on the 27th. As for Menchville, they will face off against Western Branch at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
