Volleyball Recap: Cory-Rawson Comes Up Short

Cory-Rawson was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Upper Scioto Valley Rams. The Fighting Hornets were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Rams apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

Cory-Rawson actually scored more points across those five sets (94-91), but sadly they still had to settle for second. The final score came out to 25-21, 16-25, 10-25, 25-12, 15-11.

Despite the defeat, Cory-Rawson saw an underclassman step up: freshman Rory Walters had 12 digs. Those 12 digs set a new season-high mark for Walters.

Cory-Rawson's loss dropped their record down to 3-17. As for Upper Scioto Valley, with the victory, they broke their four-match losing streak and moved their record to 5-15.

Looking ahead, Cory-Rawson will square off against Ridgemont at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Upper Scioto Valley, they will challenge Ada at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
