Rolling Hills Prep and Animo Leadership are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2016, but likely not for long. The Rolling Hills Prep Huskies will be playing in front of their home fans against the Animo Leadership Aztec Eagles at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Rolling Hills Prep is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.2 runs per game this season.
On Tuesday, Rolling Hills Prep got the win against Hawthorne Math & Science Academy by a conclusive 17-5. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Huskies.
Aidan Rubilar-Cerise was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Rubilar-Cerise was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.
In other batting news, Alex Hernandez was a standout: he fired off two home runs, seven RBI, and three runs while going 4-for-5. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in home runs. Matthew Moyer was another key player, scoring four runs and stealing Four bases. while going 4-for-5.
Rolling Hills Prep was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. They are 2-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Animo Leadership was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of Ambassador.
Animo Leadership saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Andrew Lopez, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI.
Animo Leadership now has a losing record of 4-5. As for Rolling Hills Prep, their win bumped their record up to 2-3-1.
Animo Leadership's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Rolling Hills Prep has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10 hits per game. It's a different story for Animo Leadership, though, as they've been averaging 9.9 hits. Given Rolling Hills Prep's sizable advantage in that area, Animo Leadership will need to find a way to close that gap.
Rolling Hills Prep took their victory against Animo Leadership in their previous meeting on Monday by a conclusive 18-3. Will Rolling Hills Prep repeat their success, or does Animo Leadership have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
