Basketball Recap: Noah Childers Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Cross Lanes Christian

Victory Baptist Academy won the last time they faced Cross Lanes Christian and things went their way on Thursday too. The Victory Baptist Academy Saints blew past the Cross Lanes Christian Warriors 44-23. The Saints have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matchups by 21 points or more this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Victory Baptist Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Noah Childers, who went 7 of 16 on his way to 19 points. Childers continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaac Conaway, who posted seven points in addition to 14 rebounds and three steals.

Victory Baptist Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in five consecutive games.

Christian Shamblin and Caleb Shamblin certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Christian had eight points along with nine boards and three steals, while Caleb put up two points and nine rebounds. That's the most rebounds Christian has posted since back in January.

Victory Baptist Academy's win bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Cross Lanes Christian, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Victory Baptist Academy will host Calvary Baptist Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Calvary Baptist Academy will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something Victory Baptist Academy surely won't give up without a fight. As for Cross Lanes Christian, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, an 85-38 loss against Greater Beckley Christian on the 14th.
