Basketball Recap: George Walton Academy Starts off Right with Win over Banks County + How To Watch

George Walton Academy had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They came out on top against the Banks County Leopards by a score of 82-73 on Friday. This was payback for the Bulldogs, who suffered a 66-58 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead George Walton Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Tiedrell Ansley, who shot 43% from the field en route to 27 points. Those 27 points gave Ansley a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jackson Wells, who went 8-for-11 to rack up 19 points and eight rebounds.

Having lost for the first time this season, Banks County fell to 4-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. George Walton Academy will venture away from home to face off against First Presbyterian Day at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Banks County, they will head out to square off against East Jackson at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Leopards will need to watch out since the Eagles have now posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.
