Softball Game Preview: Mount Notre Dame vs. St. Ursula Academy Bulldogs

Mount Notre Dame has gone a perfect 10-0 against St. Ursula Academy recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. Mount Notre Dame is taking a road trip to take on St. Ursula Academy at 7:00 p.m.

On Tuesday, Mount Notre Dame came up short against Kings and fell 10-6. Mount Notre Dame hasn't had much luck with Kings recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

McKenna Manley was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Grace Pitzer, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Meanwhile, St. Ursula Academy entered their tilt with Mercy McAuley on Monday with five consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with six. They came out on top against the Wolves by a score of 7-2. Seven seems to be a good number for the Bulldogs as the team scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.

O Basil spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on one hit and racked up 16 Ks.

On the hitting side, St. Ursula Academy let J Booth and A Bunner run wild. Booth scored two runs while going 2-for-4, while Bunner scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4. E Schauer also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

St. Ursula Academy pushed their record up to 9-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Mount Notre Dame, their loss dropped their record down to 6-3.

Mount Notre Dame beat St. Ursula Academy 13-9 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Mount Notre Dame since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
