Football Recap: Cabrillo Conquistadores vs. Templeton Eagles
If Cabrillo was feeling good fresh off their 55-0 takedown of Santa Maria last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Conquistadores took a 29-23 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Templeton Eagles on Thursday. The Conquistadores gained 65 more yards on the day, but it was the Eagles that made the best use of them.

Several Conquistadores players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Andrew Wallace, who picked up 118 receiving yards and one score, and also rushed for 86 yards on only seven carries. Cabrillo also got a significant boost from Gabriel Barraza, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 95 yards.
Tyler Cunningham continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Templeton, rushing for 166 yards and three TDs while picking up 7.9 yards per carry. Cunningham's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his fourth straight game with at least 146 rushing yards. Another player making a difference was Colby Sims, who picked up 101 receiving yards and one touchdown.
Cabrillo's loss dropped their record down to 7-3. As for Templeton, the win was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 9-1.
As of now, neither Cabrillo nor the Eagles have any future games scheduled.
