Football Recap: Vallejo Has No Trouble Against De Anza

Vallejo's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They strolled past the De Anza Dons with points to spare, taking the game 27-13. The Redhawks have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Dons, too.

Carlisto Valetino went supernova, rushing for 137 yards on only 15 carries, while also picking up 33 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns. Those 137 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. Julio Ramirez was another key player, having thrown for 276 yards and two touchdowns.

When it comes to explaining why De Anza lost, don't look at Jason Miles. Despite the final result, he picked up 125 receiving yards and one TD.

Vallejo's win bumped their record up to 6-3. As for De Anza, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-5.

Looking ahead, Vallejo will be playing at home against Saint Mary's at 7:00 p.m. on the 7th. The Redhawks will be up against the Panthers' rather soft defense (which has allowed 34.25 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for De Anza, they are taking a road trip to face off against El Cerrito at 7:00 p.m. on the 7th. The Dons will need to watch out since the Gauchos have now posted at least 31 points in their last three contests.
