Baseball Recap: Fuqua Falcons vs. Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot Knights
Fuqua was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They came up short against the Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot Knights, falling 19-1. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Knights this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 12-2 back in March.
Collin Jamerson put in work no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Jamerson was also big at the plate, scoring a run while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.
Jamerson wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Hunter Fowlkes, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.
Fuqua's loss dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-8.
Fuqua will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Tidewater Academy at 3:00 p.m. on the 21st. The Falcons are facing the Warriors at the right time seeing as the Warriors are stuck on a ten-game losing streak. As for Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot, they will host Cumberland at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Dukes have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 15 runs per game on average), something the Knights will no doubt try to take advantage of.
