Basketball Recap: West Jefferson Takes a Loss

West Jefferson suffered their biggest defeat since December 21, 2024 on Friday. They were outmatched by the West Liberty-Salem Tigers and fell 71-30. The Roughriders were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Tigers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January.

West Liberty-Salem got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Arianna Weaver out in front who dropped a double-double with 16 points and ten steals. Those 16 points gave Weaver a new career-high. Ava Astorino was another key player, shooting 62% from the field on her way to 20 points and four steals.

West Jefferson now has a losing record of 1-2. As for West Liberty-Salem, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.
