Softball Recap: Meadowdale Mavericks vs. Lake Washington Kangaroos
Meadowdale extended their losing streak to three on Saturday, dropping their season record down to 5-9 in the process. They lost 11-4 to the Lake Washington Kangaroos. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Mavericks of the 6-1 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2024.
Jaeden Sajec was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. Peyton Fry also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.
As for Lake Washington, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-16. They not only won on Saturday, but they posted their biggest win since April 26, 2024 (when they won 15-0).
On Lake Washington's side, Ella Nielsen made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up four earned runs off seven hits. That's the most strikeouts Nielsen has posted since back in May of 2024. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with three RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Malia Donohue, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three doubles, two runs, and two RBI. Those three doubles gave her a new career-high. Elise Roe was another key player, going 3-for-5 with three runs and one RBI.
Looking ahead, Meadowdale will look to defend their home field on Monday against Jackson at 4:00 p.m. The Mavericks are facing the Timberwolves at the right time seeing as the Timberwolves are stuck on a four-game losing streak. Lake Washington does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
