Recap: Start Spartans vs. Potomac Senior Panthers
The Start Spartans pushed their score all the way to 58 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell to Potomac Senior 62-58. While losing is never fun, Start can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 110th in Ohio, while Potomac Senior is ranked 13th in Virginia).
Potomac Senior had a senior duo take command as TJ Reese scored 17 points along with six rebounds and Kenny DeGuzman scored 14 points along with five assists. The matchup was DeGuzman's tenth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Peter Mitchell, who scored five points.
Start has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-3 record this season. As for Potomac Senior, their victory bumped their record up to 9-1.
Start will head out on the road to face off against Lima Senior at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Lima Senior knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past six contests -- so hopefully Start likes a good challenge. Potomac Senior and Hylton will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 2, 2024 without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hylton is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
