Soccer Recap: Mathews Takes a Loss

Thursday just wasn't the day for Mathews's offense. They came up short against the Smithville Smithies on Thursday, falling 8-0. While losing is never fun, Mathews can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio soccer rankings (they are ranked 592nd, while Smithville are ranked 272nd).

This is the second loss in a row for Mathews and nudges their season record down to 0-14-2. As for Smithville, their win bumped their record up to 8-3-6.

Mathews does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Smithville, they will look to defend their home pitch on Thursday against Bristol. Smithville's defense better be ready for this one: Bristol have averaged an impressive 4.8 goals per game this season.
