Softball Recap: Wellington Comes Up Short

Wellington and Independence squared off in some playoff action on Monday, but Wellington had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Blue Devils by a score of 3-2. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Dukes of the 3-1 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2022.

Wellington saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Courtney Krosse, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.

This is the second loss in a row for Wellington and nudges their season record down to 10-11. Even worse, they were so close both times: the defeats came by an average of only 1.5 runs. As for Independence, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-4 record this season.

As of now, neither Wellington nor Independence have any future games scheduled.
