Basketball Game Preview: Indian Creek Timberwolves vs. Genoa-Kingston Cogs

The Indian Creek Timberwolves will face off against the Genoa-Kingston Cogs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Indian Creek picked up another tournament win on Saturday. They enjoyed a cozy 68-49 win over Wethersfield. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Timberwolves.

Everett Willis had a dynamite game for Indian Creek, dropping a double-double on 23 points and ten boards. The dominant performance gave Willis a new career-high in points. Logan Schrader was another key player, putting up nine points along with eight assists and eight boards.

Indian Creek smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 19 consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, Genoa-Kingston suffered their biggest defeat since November 29th last Friday. They might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting Warren an easy 77-56 victory. While losing is never fun, the Cogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 429th, while the Warriors are ranked 211th).

Genoa-Kingston now has a losing record at 5-6. As for Indian Creek, their win bumped their record up to 12-4.

Indian Creek beat Genoa-Kingston 59-49 when the teams last played back in December of 2023. Does Indian Creek have another victory up their sleeve, or will Genoa-Kingston turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
