Jack Goergen pitched five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits, good enough for us to rate the performance as the best he's had all season long. As if that's not impressive enough, the pitching appearance was his fourth in a row with one or fewer earned runs. For the season, he has an ERA of 2.95 over 19 innings pitched.

Goergen's strong effort led Hersey over Elk Grove and he'll get a chance to do so again: the teams have a rematch scheduled at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
