With a playoff win on the line, Melrose rose to the challenge on Saturday. They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Gateway Christian Warriors. The victory was nothing new for the Buffaloes as they're now sitting on 17 straight.

Leading Melrose to victory were Shylynn Downey and Zona Hollaway. Downey had 11 digs and two aces, while Hollaway had three digs and three aces. Downey has been hot recently, having posted two or more aces the last four times she's played.

They weren't the only good servers: Melrose was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 12 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least six aces in three consecutive matches.

Melrose's record is now 24-2. As for Gateway Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 21-8.

Melrose didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-0 loss against Quemado on the 15th. Gateway Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
