Basketball Recap: Trae Williams' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Mount Miguel over Eastlake

Mount Miguel lost against Eastlake back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Mount Miguel Matadors took a 61-51 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Eastlake Titans. The Matadors have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Mount Miguel's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Trae Williams, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 16 boards. Braylon Cardwell was another key player, going 5 of 8 on his way to 13 points.

Mount Miguel's loss dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Eastlake, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-5.

Mount Miguel won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Otay Ranch at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Mount Miguel is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.5 points per game this season. As for Eastlake, they and Southwest SD will face off at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday without much rest having both just played. Eastlake knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past three games -- so hopefully Southwest SD likes a good challenge.
