Paige Smith leads a balanced attack to beat Herington

You can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely the Wakefield Bombers's strategy against the Herington Railroaders on Thursday. Wakefield enjoyed a cozy 46-27 win over Herington. Wakefield didn't have much to brag about two games back, but this win makes it their second in a row.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Wakefield to victory, but perhaps none more so than Paige Smith, who scored 17 points along with three steals and two blocks. That makes it five consecutive games in which Smith has scored at least a third of Wakefield's points. Another player making a difference was Grace Rohr, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 14 rebounds.

Despite the defeat, Herington had strong showings from Leslyn Kremeier, who scored 15 points along with three steals and two blocks, and Isabelle Ecklund, who scored three points along with seven rebounds. It was the first time this season that Kremeier posted two or more blocks.

Herington struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Wakefield racked up 13 assists.

Wakefield's victory bumped their record up to 5-9. As for Herington, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-8 record this season.

Wakefield didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 37-24 victory vs. Solomon on the 9th. Herington has also already played their next game, a 46-21 loss against Goessel on the 9th.
