Recap: Wilkes Central Eagles vs. Elkin Buckin' Elks
The Wilkes Central Eagles had to start their season on the road on Tuesday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They fell just short of Elkin by a score of 44-42. Wilkes Central lost against Elkin in their previous head to head back in December of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 35-27 score last time.
When it comes to explaining why Wilkes Central lost, one person who can't be blamed is Anna Rollins. Despite the final result, she scored 23 points along with 7 steals and 5 rebounds.
Wilkes Central's loss dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Elkin, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-0.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wilkes Central will take on West Iredell at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Elkin, they have the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Union Grove Christian at 6:30 p.m. on November 28th. Hopefully Union Grove Christian focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Saturday.
