Recap: Community Christian Academy Crusaders vs. DePaul Cristo Rey
The Community Christian Academy Crusaders were the 39-26 winner over DePaul Cristo Rey when they last played one another back in December of 2021, but their luck changed this time around. Community Christian Academy was beaten by DePaul Cristo Rey 55-28 on Thursday. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Community Christian Academy came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 257th in Kentucky, while DePaul Cristo Rey is ranked 584th in Ohio).
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead DePaul Cristo Rey to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jazmin Tubbs, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds and five blocks. Tubbs is trending in the right direction, as she's improved her point production for four games straight. The team also got some help courtesy of Aundrea Dangerfield, who scored 15 points along with three steals.
Community Christian Academy's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 1-5. As for DePaul Cristo Rey, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Community Christian Academy will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Richmond HomeSchool at 6:00 p.m. on February 12th. As for DePaul Cristo Rey, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Shroder Paideia Academy at 6:00 p.m. on January 26th. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Shroder Paideia Academy has struggled recently with seven defeats in a row, while DePaul Cristo Rey will arrive with four straight victories.
