Basketball Game Preview: Herrin Tigers vs. Chester Yellowjackets

The Herrin Tigers will take on the Chester Yellowjackets at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Herrin will be strutting in after a victory while Chester will be coming in after a loss.

Herrin gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Monday. They blew past Frankfort 58-37.

Herrin got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Tanner Hall out in front who dropped a double-double with ten points and 11 rebounds. Those ten points gave Hall a new career-high. J.J. Gwaltney was another key player, dropping a double-double with ten points and 11 boards.

Meanwhile, Chester came up short against Pinckneyville on Wednesday, falling 71-50. The Yellowjackets haven't had much luck with the Panthers recently, as the team has come up short the last seven times they've met.

Herrin took their victory against Chester when the teams last played back in December of 2024 by a conclusive 51-29 score. Do the Tigers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Yellowjackets turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
