Dallas Christian is headed into the game after thoroughly thrashing All Saints Episcopal: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Chargers blew the Trojans out of the water with a 56-9 final score. Luke Syvrud was the offensive standout of the contest as he threw for 174 yards and one touchdown while completing 87.5% of his passes, and also rushed for 37 yards. His passing game has become a key predictor of Dallas Christian's success: the team is 6-1 when his passer rating is 110 or higher, but only 1-2 otherwise.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Dallas Christian was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 316 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as All Saints Episcopal only rushed for 181.
Dallas Christian didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. Leading the way was Dylan Belt and his one interception. Cole Crain was another major factor on D, picking up a sack, forcing one fumble, and making nine total tackles (5.0 for loss).
Meanwhile, two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Covenant Christian walked away with it. They blew past the Guardians 42-6 on Friday.
Covenant Christian's win came from a few key players Dallas Christian will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Peyton Jankowski, who threw for 396 yards and three TDs while completing 79.2% of his passes, and also punched in one rushing score. What's more, he posted five rushing yards, the most he's had since back in September. Lucas Wallace was Jankowski's top target, picking up 173 receiving yards and a pair of scores.
Dallas Christian's win bumped their record up to 7-3. As for Covenant Christian, they now have a winning record of 6-5.
Everything came up roses for Dallas Christian against Covenant Christian in their previous matchup back in November of 2022, as the squad secured a 66-6 victory. In that game, the Chargers amassed a halftime lead of 59-0, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
