Basketball Recap: Nir Ovaknin Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat St. John Paul II Academy + How To Watch

Katz Yeshiva hadn't done well against St. John Paul II Academy recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Storm managed a 67-62 victory over the Eagles. This was payback for the Storm, who suffered a 77-63 loss the last time these two teams met.

Katz Yeshiva got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Nir Ovaknin out in front who went 6-for-11 en route to 16 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. Ilan Attias was another key player, dropping a double-double with 17 points and 11 boards.

The victory got Katz Yeshiva back to even at 1-1. As for St. John Paul II Academy, they are on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Katz Yeshiva will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Donna Klein Jewish Academy at 7:00 p.m. on December 2. As for St. John Paul II Academy, they will head out to square off against Westminster Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
