Recap: Benedictine Cadets vs. Beach Bulldogs
The Benedictine Cadets came tearing into Saturday's matchup with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16.8 points) and they left with even more momentum. They strolled past Beach with points to spare, taking the game 50-32. This was payback for Benedictine, who suffered a 49-48 defeat the last time these two teams met.
Leading Benedictine to victory were LaDon Bryant and Caleb Jones. Bryant scored 17 points along with seven rebounds, while Jones scored 16 points along with six rebounds and five assists. That's the first time this season that Bryant scored 15 or more points. Ejay Washington was another key contributor, scoring six points.
Benedictine's victory was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-3. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.1 points per game. As for Beach, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Benedictine and Wayne County will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 16th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Wayne County will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings (they are ranked 447th, while Benedictine is ranked 170th). Beach will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Savannah Country Day at 7:30 p.m. on January 16th.
