Baseball Recap: Kennedy Triumphs

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Kennedy ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They won by a run and slipped past the Manual Thunderbolts 14-13. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 12-10 back in April.

Xavier Benavidez was incredible, going a perfect 5-for-5 with four stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Those five hits gave him a new career-high. Marcelo Nevarez was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one triple.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Kennedy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are 6-2 when they post 11 or more hits.

Kennedy pushed their record up to 8-11 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.3 runs over those games. As for Manual, their loss dropped their record down to 3-14.

Coming up, Kennedy will head out to face off against Hinkley at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Manual, they will welcome Denver West at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Thunderbolts' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cowboys have averaged an impressive 8.2 runs per game this season.
