Preview: Tuscola Mountaineers vs. Franklin Panthers
Tuscola is 1-9 against Franklin since February of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Tuscola Mountaineers will head out on the road to face off against the Franklin Panthers at 6:30 p.m. Tuscola will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 439th, while Franklin is ranked 203rd).
Last Thursday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Tuscola beat Enka 41-35. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Tuscola.
It was another big night for Karsen Cherry, who scored ten points along with nine rebounds. She hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for five straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Nora Jenkins, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds and five steals.
Meanwhile, Franklin was able to grind out a solid win over East Henderson on Friday, taking the game 47-38. The victory was just what Franklin needed coming off of a 67-34 defeat in their prior matchup.
Tuscola's record is now 3-4. As for Franklin, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 3-3 record this season.
Tuscola was dealt a bruising 64-29 defeat at the hands of Franklin when the teams last played back in January. Can Tuscola avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
