With a playoff win on the line, Plano East rose to the challenge on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over the Lake Highlands Wildcats. The win was familiar territory for the Panthers, who have now won seven matchups in a row.
Plano East took Lake Highlands into a fifth set where they got it done with a three-point win. The final score came out to 24-26, 25-13, 25-22, 23-25, 15-12.
Leading Plano East to victory were Dakota Huynh and Addison Tucker. Huynh had 34 digs and seven assists, while Tucker had 13 digs and two assists. That's the most assists Tucker has posted since back in September.
Lake Highlands' loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Carrigan Anderly, who had 34 assists and 19 digs. Anderly is on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 14 or more in each of the last 16 games she's played. Brylie Woodbury was another key player, getting 25 digs and three assists.
Plano East's victory bumped their record up to 30-10. As for Lake Highlands, their defeat dropped their record down to 28-9.
Plano East didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-0 win against Eastlake on the 7th. Lake Highlands does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
