For the first time this season, Freeport will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will be playing at home against the Pensacola Catholic Crusaders at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Freeport comes in on five and Pensacola Catholic on three.
Freeport is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They walked away with a 71-60 win over Cottondale two weeks ago.

Freeport got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Carter Nunes out in front who threw for 222 yards and five touchdowns on only 19 passes, and also rushed for 80 yards and a pair of scores on only five carries. Those 80 rushing yards gave Nunes a new career-high. Dylan Louthain was another key back, rushing for 186 yards and two TDs.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Freeport was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 282 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, while Pensacola Catholic put up plenty of points on Friday, the same can't be said for Providence School. The Crusaders blew past the Stallions, posting a 35-0 win. That looming 35-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Crusaders yet this season.
Freeport better keep an eye on Ethan Crandall. He was instrumental in Pensacola Catholic's win, rushing for 147 yards and a pair of scores on only ten carries. Crandall's longest rush was for an impressive 56 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total.
Freeport's victory bumped their record up to 4-0. As for Pensacola Catholic, their win bumped their record up to 4-1.
The upcoming contest will be a clash of competing strengths. Freeport has relied on air attacks this season and has averaged 285.2 passing yards per game. Pensacola Catholic, on the other hand, has relied on a stout run game: they average 180 rushing yards per game. So which strategy will prevail on Friday? There's only one way to find out.
Freeport took a serious blow against Pensacola Catholic when the teams last played back in September of 2024, falling 53-26. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Bulldogs were down 39-6.
