Soccer Recap: Cannon Takes a Loss

Cannon lost against Providence Day back in April of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Cougars took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Chargers. While losing is never fun, Cannon can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 69th, while Providence Day are ranked first).

This is the second loss in a row for Cannon and nudges their season record down to 4-4-1. As for Providence Day, the victory keeps they at an undefeated 13-0-1.

Looking ahead, Cannon will square off against Cox Mill at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Cox Mill's last three matchups have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Providence Day, they will take on Carmel Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (Providence Day have won eight straight at home, while Carmel Christian won three straight on the road), something that'll have to change.
