Recap: Grenada Chargers vs. New Albany Bulldogs
The Grenada Chargers entered their tilt with the New Albany Bulldogs with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Grenada snuck past New Albany with a 75-69 win on Friday. The victory was all the more spectacular given Grenada's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 137th, while New Albany is ranked 48th).
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Grenada to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jarques Perry, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 24 rebounds. The matchup was Perry's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Caleb Howard, who scored 22 points along with five rebounds.
New Albany's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kylan Lindsey, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and ten rebounds. That's the first time this season that Lindsey pulled down eight or more rebounds. Another player making a difference was Braden Shettles, who scored 19 points along with three steals.
Grenada is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a massive bump to their 5-9 record this season. As for New Albany, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-4.
Grenada will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Lake Cormorant at 7:30 p.m. on January 5th. As for New Albany, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Byhalia at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
