Basketball Recap: Mt. Pleasant's Win on Monday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Mt. Pleasant had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 20.3 points) and they went ahead and made it four on Monday. They walked away with a 52-43 win over the Hughes Lions. The 52-point effort marked the Tigers' lowest-scoring contest of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Leading Mt. Pleasant to victory were Jakyri McClure and Ryan Benderman. McClure went 9 for 18 on his way to 23 points in addition to six rebounds and four steals, while Benderman went 6 for 14 on his way to 14 points and seven steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Micah Dale, who posted seven points.

Mt. Pleasant pushed their record up to 6-2 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. As for Hughes, with the defeat, they broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 6-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mt. Pleasant will be taking part in a tournament against Franklin Classical School at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Hughes, a feisty cat fight will be fought when the Hughes Lions duke it out with the Riverside Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
