Volleyball Recap: Flanagan-Cornell Falcons vs. Fisher Bunnies

Flanagan-Cornell was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Fisher Bunnies. While the Falcons didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Bunnies 25-14 in the first set.

Flanagan-Cornell actually scored more points across those three sets (55-54), but sadly they still had to settle for second. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 14-25, 25-21, 15-9.

Kora Edens paced Flanagan-Cornell's offense, picking up seven kills. Edens got some help from Kaylee Delheimer and her 12 assists. Marley Highland and Brooklyn Delheimer kept things locked in from the service line: the pair finished with two aces apiece.

Fisher's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Brooklynn Kellems led the charge by getting eight digs, three aces, and one block. That's the most digs Kellems has posted over her last nine matchups. Bella Kelsey was another key player, getting ten digs, seven kills, and two aces.

Flanagan-Cornell's defeat dropped their record down to 16-14. As for Fisher, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-12 record this season.

Flanagan-Cornell will square off against Hoopeston at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Fisher, they have already played their next match, a 2-0 loss against Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley on the 25th.
