Baseball Game Preview: South Tahoe Vikings vs. Truckee Wolverines

The South Tahoe Vikings will venture away from home to face off against the Truckee Wolverines at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. South Tahoe will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last.

South Tahoe is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Sparks 20-1 on Friday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Vikings with their most commanding win of the season.

Meanwhile, Truckee had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. They put the hurt on the Colts with a sharp 9-3 victory. The result was nothing new for the Wolverines, who have now won nine games by six runs or more so far this season.

Kevin Cabrera made a splash no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over 6.1 innings pitched. Cabrera was also big at the plate, scoring three runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. He is becoming a predictor of Truckee's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 7-1 (and 4-5 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jackson Wicks, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. Logan Arata was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

South Tahoe's record is now 3-13. As for Truckee, their record now sits at 11-6.

South Tahoe couldn't quite get it done against Truckee in their previous meeting last Saturday as they fell 5-0. Can the Vikings avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
