Softball Recap: Sherman Oaks CES Beats Valley Academy of Arts & Sciences for Their Fourth Straight Win

Sherman Oaks CES made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Valley Academy of Arts & Sciences, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Sherman Oaks CES blew past Valley Academy of Arts & Sciences 12-1 on Thursday. Considering the Knights have won three contests by more than ten runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Araceli Altamirano and Stella Brewer made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Altamirano pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Meanwhile, Brewer tossed two innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Altamirano has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. At the plate, Altamirano scored a run while going 2-for-4, while Brewer went a perfect 3-for-3 with two triples, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave Brewer a new career-high.

In other batting news, Reagan Rosenthal was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, four stolen bases, and three runs. Those four stolen bases gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Block, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 3-for-4.

Sherman Oaks CES kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

The win keeps Sherman Oaks CES at an undefeated 4-0. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average this season. As for Valley Academy of Arts & Sciences, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-2.
