Basketball Game Preview: Ann Sobrato Bulldogs vs. Leigh Longhorns

The Ann Sobrato Bulldogs will square off against the Leigh Longhorns at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Last Thursday, Ann Sobrato came up short against Westmont and fell 51-42. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 736th, while the Warriors are ranked 350th).

Meanwhile, Leigh beat Piedmont Hills 54-43 on Thursday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Longhorns.

Leigh found their leader in sophomore Ashley Saban, who posted 17 points along with six assists and five boards. Abigail White was another key player, putting up 15 points and six rebounds.

Leigh smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in three consecutive contests.

Ann Sobrato has traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-14 record this season. As for Leigh, their win bumped their record up to 10-11.

Ann Sobrato might still be hurting after the 60-39 loss they got from Leigh in their previous meeting back in January. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Leigh's Catalina Williams, who earned 20 points in addition to six boards and three steals. Now that Ann Sobrato knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
