The Meadowbrook Colts will hit the road for the first time this season to take on the Tri-Valley Scotties at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
Meadowbrook is leaving town to face Tri-Valley after disappointing their home crowd in their season opener. The Colts took a 4-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of Maysville on Monday.
Braylon Lowery put in work no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Lowery was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing three bases while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.
Lowery wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Gunner Davis, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.
Meanwhile, Tri-Valley strolled into their game on Tuesday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They blew past Philo 21-1. Considering the Scotties have won three games by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Like Meadowbrook, Tri-Valley also got a great game from a two-way player: Gavin Harrold. On the mound, he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and only one walk). Harrold has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with four RBI, one triple, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brady Kaufman, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with four runs, four RBI, and one double. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kian Drummonds, who scored three runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Tri-Valley hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Philo struck out ten times.
Meadowbrook might still be hurting after the 9-0 defeat they got from Tri-Valley in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Colts avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
