Abigail Grubbs was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
Grubbs wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Sophia Torres, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. Torres also hit a double, marking her first of the season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lake Minneola). They had just enough and edged out Lake Weir 9-8. While the Hawks didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-16), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.
The team relied heavily on Giselle Mccormick, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Quevedo, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.
Lake Minneola kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2024.
Lake Minneola's win bumped their record up to 6-4. As for Pasco, the victory was their first at home , bumping their record up to 2-6.
Everything went Pasco's way against Lake Minneola when the teams last played back in March of 2024, as Pasco made off with a 14-1 win. Does Pasco have another victory up their sleeve, or will Lake Minneola turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
