The crowd at Thursday's non-league challenge between the Belmont Cardinals (Belmont, MS) and the visiting Ashland Blue Devils (Ashland, MS), observed Belmont's basketball team overwhelm Ashland by a score of 72-45.

The Cardinals (3-14) will now prepare for their challenge against Alcorn Central (Glen, MS). The Bears come into the battle with a 10-7 record. In their last battle, Alcorn Central was crushed by Corinth (Corinth, MS), 54-51, in a non-league battle.

The Blue Devils now own a 5-9 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Hickory Flat for a 1A Region 2 battle on Tuesday, January 13. Ashland will meet a Rebels squad coming off a 88-58 non-league loss to Byhalia (Byhalia, MS). The Rebels record now stands at 6-16.
