The South Brunswick Cougars (Southport, NC) basketball edged the visiting South Columbus Stallions (Tabor City, NC), 55-51 in Friday's league bout.

The Cougars now possess a 13-6 record. They play next when they host Fairmont for a Southeastern 3A/4A/5A bout on Tuesday, February 10. South Brunswick will play a Golden Tornadoes team coming off a 56-48 league win over Whiteville (Whiteville, NC). The Golden Tornadoes record now stands at 9-12.

With the loss, South Columbus moves to 6-12 on the season. The Stallions travel to West Bladen (Bladenboro, NC) to encounter the Knights in a Southeastern 3A/4A/5A test on Tuesday, February 10. The Knights come into the test with a record of 17-5. West Bladen won 68-35 in their recent league test against Red Springs (Red Springs, NC)
