Bellevue East Chieftains (Bellevue, NE) backers exited the stadium thrilled Friday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Bellevue West Thunderbirds (Bellevue, NE), 4-2 in a non-league challenge.

The Chieftains now own a 8-11 record. They take the field next when they host Grand Island for a non-league challenge on Saturday, September 16. Bellevue East will face a Islanders squad coming off a 10-3 non-league loss to Marian (Omaha, NE). The Islanders record now stands at 5-10.

With the loss, Bellevue West falls to 8-13 on the campaign. The Thunderbirds travel to Papillion-LaVista South (Papillion, NE) to face the Titans in a A District challenge on Tuesday, September 19. The Titans enter the challenge with a record of 11-8. Papillion-LaVista South lost 3-2 in their recent non-league challenge against Millard North (Omaha, NE)
