The Kearney Catholic Stars edged the host York Dukes softball squad by a count of 6-5 in Thursday's league challenge.

Next, the Stars play the St. Cecilia Bluehawks (Hastings, NE) in a non-league challenge, on Monday, September 23. Kearney Catholic will attempt to upgrade on its 12-7 season record. The Bluehawks enter the challenge with a 16-2 record after their 14-11 non-league win over Fillmore Central/Exeter-Milligan (Geneva, NE).

The Dukes (11-8) will now prepare for their challenge against Waverly (Waverly, NE). The Vikings enter the non-league challenge with a 11-9 record. In their last challenge, Waverly was nudged by Blair (Blair, NE), 8-0, in a non-league challenge.
