Leyden has gone a perfect 10-0 against Proviso East recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Eagles will head out on the road to take on the Pirates at 4:30 p.m. Leyden is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.1 runs per game this season.
Leyden barely beat Berwyn/Cicero Morton the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Eagles were the clear victors by a 20-3 margin over the Mustangs on Friday. The win was some much needed relief for the Eagles as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
Hailey Palma made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits. Palma was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one double.

In other batting news, Ava Jamrozek was a standout: she got on base in five of her six plate appearances with three stolen bases, four runs, and three RBI. She has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last six times she's played. Elise Bertsche was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, three runs, and one triple.
Leyden always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Berwyn/Cicero Morton only posted an OBP of .348.
Meanwhile, Proviso East was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They lost 12-2 to Addison Trail.
Proviso East saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gabriella Corral, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.
Leyden now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Proviso East, their loss dropped their record down to 2-5.
Monday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Leyden has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .434. However, it's not like Proviso East struggles in that department as they've averaged .541. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Leyden got the 'W' when the teams last played back in May of 2025 against Proviso East by a conclusive 22-0 score. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Pirates have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
